Theresa R. Holland

MSN, BS, IBCLC, ICCE

Compassionate and experienced Lactation Consultant providing insurance covered lactation care in Hamilton County, IN, surrounding areas, and of course, online!

My Background

I graduated from both Butler University and Indiana University with Bachelor's degrees in Business and in Nursing. I later blended those two areas when earning a Master's degree in Nursing Administration.

I previously worked at Hendricks Health Hospital as the Lactation Consultant Coordinator and at Riverview Health Hospital as the Manager of Lactation and Childbirth Education Programs. I also served as the Coordinator of Childbirth Education for 4 IU Health Hospitals and completed 21 years with IU Health in both Lactation and Childbirth Education.

Years ago I conducted extensive research into the needs of late-preterm infants and had a Provisional Patent for a baby bottle & nipple design. This innovation allowed me to collaborate with IU Ventures to create an employee product review platform.

In addition to my current role for TLN, I also work for IU Health North as a RN Lactation Consultant on a PRN basis. I also currently serve as the VP of Operations for DeLisle Associates Ltd.

I am fully vaccinated, and I maintain current certifications for maternity, like CPR. I have over 25 years of experience as Certified RN in maternity care and am certified in Safe Sleep and Infant First Aid. I am also trained in Infant Massage and in Dr. Harvey Karp's Happiest Baby program.

I taught the Marvelous Multiples Program for decades at IU Health which guided moms of twins and even triplets home from the NICU with feeding, sleeping and even coping routines!

I have conducted Private Lactation Outpatient Appointments for decades in a hospital setting and now offer this in the convenience of your home through The Lactation Network, TLN.

I provide in-home and telehealth lactation support to new parents, helping them address nursing challenges. My passion is guiding new moms through the process of breastfeeding, easing their anxieties, and ensuring a positive feeding experience. This has always been an area where I excel, and I can't wait to help you and your new baby meet your feeding goals!

Why choose lactation home visits with me?

Home & telehealth visits with weekend availability

I bring a scale and we do a pre and post feeding weight in oz and in lbs. We discuss nursing and even supplemental feedings to help baby gain weight, and we make a plan to increase your milk supply. Visits are typically one hour each and then charted in the HIPAA compliant TLN charting which includes a detailed nursing plan for each visit.

Evidence-based education from an experienced and certified RN

I utilize the current feeding policies from hospitals where I am employed for evidence-based advice. That is why local pediatricians refer me to new parents! Experienced as the Coordinator and Manager of Lactation and Childbirth Education.

Feeding plans for more parental sleep

All visits include coping, bonding, feeding & soothing baby techniques!

Reduced anxiety

Yoga stretches with your baby, and even pilates, for you to gain your muscle back and reduce anxiety!

Testimonials

"Theresa has been an integral part of my breast-feeding journey with my firstborn son. She is an advocate and cheerleader, and an extremely educated Lactation Consultant with decades of experience spanning across multiple jobs in the specialty of mothers and babies. Not knowing what to expect with breast-feeding and facing multiple challenges along the way, Theresa approached every situation with empathy and research-backed suggestions and solutions. She took her time educating me about breastfeeding at our initial consult before I gave birth, which was a great way to start learning. Theresa's teaching span beyond lactation: she is certified to teach mother/baby yoga and led my son and I through a fabulous personalized yoga class that promoted movement and bonding! Our baby was born at 37 weeks and had lost too much weight within the first couple days after being born, and Theresa made her schedule flexible to come over and create a customized and rigorous feeding plan that supported my goal of exclusive breast-feeding. This plan, alongside Theresa's support, ultimately helped our son exceed his birthweight and he continues to be on a healthy trajectory with his weight and growth!I truly can't imagine persisting through my breast-feeding journey without Theresa. Thankfully, I don't have to! Postpartum life is really challenging, and Theresa has been such a positive light for me as I navigate this new chapter. I highly recommend her!"

"Theresa has provided invaluable support for us during my breastfeeding journey. My son was born 3 weeks early and took bottles in 1.5 hours. The LC I tried before her said exclusively breastfeeding was not a realistic goal for us, but Theresa said we could work towards it and didn't see a reason as to why that goal wouldn't work as long as I was willing to put the effort towards it. She broke it down into small problems. First, we focused on getting his bottle feedings to under 15 minutes while I pumped so I could get more rest and things were more manageable. Afterwards, we worked on bringing up my milk supply as well as breastfeeding positions and optimal positions for latching. A few months in, I now am able to exclusively nurse my son thanks to all of her support and guidance! I couldn't have done it without her expertise and encouragement."

"Working with Theresa has made my breastfeeding journey with my first child so much smoother and more enjoyable than I could have imagined! Theresa truly takes time to listen to and understand me, meeting me where I'm at and working with me to ensure that I meet my goals in a way that works for both me and my baby. She approaches breastfeeding holistically, focusing not just on the feeding itself but also on schedules, naps/sleeping, my health and well being, and my daughter's specific needs. Theresa empowers me to continue nourishing my daughter and continues to be available as a valuable resource to me and my family. I have absolutely loved working with and learning from her!"
